4 Disney Films that Positively Represent Diversity!

2.Big Hero 6

Big Hero 6 is another Disney movie that is packed with representation of diversity. I cannot even begin to explain how cute the main robot character, Baymax, is.

The film is about a young teenage boy, Hiro Hamada, who is a genius when it comes to building robots. Fun fact time! Hiro Hamada is the first known biracial Disney character. Hamada is half-Caucasian, half-Japanese. He lives in San Fransokyo and wants to enroll in the same university as his brother, Tadashi, which is the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology. After a huge fire hits the university’s exhibit, Tadashi is killed. After the death of his brother, Hiro decides to activate Baymax, which is one of Tadashi’s creations. Hiro and Baymax, alongside his brother’s friends GoGo, Wasabi, Honey Lemon, and Fred, fight a villain wearing a Kabuki mask.

As you can see from the photo above, the main character isn’t the only one who is racially diverse. The cast is actually VERY diverse if you ask me. The cast has characters of Hispanic, Asian, White, and Black decent. The diversity doesn’t stop at race either. There are also strong female leads in this movie. Like HELLO, the two girls, GoGo and Honey Lemon, are scientists. This is AMAZING and definitely a great inspiration for young girls.
