10 Top-Notch Contenders To Become She-Hulk in New Disney+ Series!

Written by D.J. Rivera. Published: February 05 2020

She-Hulk may be set to take up the mantle of the most destructive Avenger, but who could play the Hulk’s favorite cousin?

A She-Hulk television series is in development and headed for Disney+. Much like the planned series with Hawkeye and Kate Bishop, the purpose of this show will be to introduce a new version of a beloved character.

Some believe this could be a situation that passes the torch from Bruce Banner to Jennifer Walters, likely signaling a changing of the guard in the Avengers. To be replacing possibly the most magnificent Hulk we have ever seen on screen is a huge deal, and not just anyone can be trusted to take over from a talent like Mark Ruffalo successfully.

Fans have been wanting to see She-Hulk get the live-action treatment for some time now, and after seeing what Marvel has in store for the fledgling streaming service, it seems it was worth the wait. "WandaVision", "Loki", and "Falcon and the Winter Soldier" all look like movies in their own right, which bodes very well for the series revolving around Jessica Walters.

With She-Hulk being one of the most famous characters from the comic books yet to be brought to the small screen, the casting line for the character will be very long. After countless hours of research and careful consideration, here are some actresses that we believe have what it takes to snag the coveted role in the upcoming Disney+ series!

1. Lauren Cohan

Laura Cohan garnered some serious fan cred with her tenure on the hits series "The Walking Dead" and showed she was no pushover taking on the likes of Negan, The Governor, and countless walkers.

She then really got to flex her warrior muscles in the action-packed film Mile 22. Cohan’s resume boasts some serious comic book credibility, not to mention an impressive history of taking down formidable evildoers, making her a prime candidate for any superhero franchise.

She’ll always be remembered for her turn as Maggie, but becoming Jennifer Walters could make her a legend.

2. Jameela Jamil

Jameela Jamil is coming off a stellar run on the hit NBC series "The Good Place". Now that the beloved fantasy comedy has completed, Jamil is looking like one of the game’s most alluring free agents.

Marvel has a notorious habit of turning comedic actors into superheroes, like Chris Pratt with Star-Lord or Paul Rudd with Ant-Man. Given what we saw from her time on "The Good Place" and everything else going for her right now, it makes a lot of sense for Disney+ to have her high on the list of potential contenders to transform into She-Hulk.

3. Regina King

At this point, it seems like there is nothing Regina King can’t do.

The Academy Award-winning actress did what many considered impossible and lead a "Watchmen" sequel series that is the best live-action interpretation of a property that was long considered by many to be unadaptable. After pulling off that incredible accomplishment, she will undoubtedly add significant value to whatever project she takes on next.

If Marvel is looking for a TV powerhouse experienced in the art of carrying a compelling comic book series, then Disney+ should look no further then one of the industry's most talented players to take on the role of She-Hulk.

4. Gina Carano

Fans have long speculated that former MMA fighter-turned-action star Gina Carano would be a perfect fit to play Jennifer Walters. She has proven herself capable of pulling off what it would take to play such a character with several of her roles in films such as Haywire, Deadpool, and Fast 6.

Carano also already has a following on Disney+ after her superb run as Cara Dune in the hit Star Wars series "The Mandalorian".

Carano has the sassy attitude and charisma to play Walters, and given how she’s already a fan-favorite on the streaming platform, she is a top contender to win the title of She-Hulk.

5. Gwendoline Christine

I don’t care what anybody says, Gwendoline Christie is the toughest person in all of the Seven Kingdoms, and she is definitely more than capable of playing the infamous Marvel character. The Hound, White Wakers, and poor story structure couldn’t stop Lady Brienne from becoming one of "Game of Throne"'s most formidable and famous figures.

And she is no stranger to Disney, having played Captain Phasma in two Star Wars films.

Her stature, demeanor, and overall set of skills make her one of the best choices to play Jennifer Walters and take down any threats to the MCU as She-Hulk.

6. Michelle Rodriguez

It's shocking that Michelle Rodriguez hasn’t played a plethora of superheroes, supervillains, and/or starred in her own franchise.

Her tenure in the Fast and Furious films have proven over and over again that she is one of the biggest names the action genre has to offer. Not only does she have the ability to wipe the floor with whoever gets in her way, but she also has an exceptional range, making her an ideal choice to headline any bold adaptation.

The Avatar and Resident Evil star is a legend in her own right, and having her rage out as She-Hulk in a Disney+ original series feels like the right thing to do.

7. Mackenzie Davis

Terminator: Dark Fate didn’t do very well at the box office, but it did prove to be the third-best Terminator film.

But one thing fans everywhere can thank the sixth film in the classic franchise for is that it allowed audiences to witness Mackenzie Davis become an action star. Even though the REV-9 Terminator model kept coming, she just got angrier and therefore hit much harder -- all of which are great qualities to play She-Hulk.

Davis’s days as a cyborg warrior may be over, but it isn’t too late to sign her up as Jennifer Walters in the upcoming Marvel TV series.

8. Vanessa Kirby

"The Crown" introduced the world to Vanessa Kirby, but Mission: Impossible -- Fallout put her on the map.

Things really heated up when she made her claim to be the queen of the action film world teaming up with Hobbs and Shaw. Not only is she worthy of such iconic franchises, but she’s also helped take down Black Superman in the form of a cyber-enhanced Idris Elba. That alone is enough to get someone into the Avengers, let alone be considered to bring Jennifer Walters to life in a She-Hulk Disney+ original.

Kirby is a fantastic actress that fits all the criteria to be a perfect choice for the role.

9. Aubrey Plaza

Aubrey Plaza was hilarious on the hit NBC series "Parks and Recreation", and as we saw with her character April Ludgate, she can switch gears pretty quickly, a necessary ability one would have to have mastered in order to play a character that goes green with anger instantly.

Plaza has an impressive list of roles she has gloriously taken on that would prove her ability to play engrossing characters. Plus, it would be cool to see her reunite with Andy, aka Chris Pratt, in the MCU if She-Hulk should ever encounter the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Anything is possible in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it's impossible not to consider Plaza for the role of Jennifer Walters.

10. Nathalie Emmanuel

Fans will recognize Nathalie Emmanuel from either the global phenomena "Game of Thrones" as Danaerys Targaryen's adviser Missandei, or as Ramsey, the sexy hacker badass from the Fast and Furious films.

Emmanuel has proven she has what it takes to be a significant supporting player in two of the biggest franchises of the last decade. It seems just as good a time as any to upgrade her to the leading lady level, and a Marvel Disney+ series is a great place to start.

Emmanuel would be outstanding as She-Hulk and would be a tremendous addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe if given the opportunity.
