Zootopia leads Annie Awards nominations
Zootopia looks set to dominate the 2017 Annie Awards after landing 11 nominations.
The animated film, featuring the voices of Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, and Idris Elba, has scored nods for Best Animated Feature alongside Finding Dory, Kubo and the Two Strings, Kung Fu Panda 3, and Moana, which rocketed to the top of the North American box office over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
Zootopia's directors Byron Howard and Rich Moore are also competing
with Kubo and the Two Strings' Travis Knight, My Life as a
Zucchini's Claude Barras, The Red Turtle's Michael Dudok de Wit,
and Your Name's Makoto Shinkai for Directing in an Animated Feature
Production.
In the Voice Acting in an Animated Feature Production category,
Kubo and the Two Strings' Art Parkinson, Moana's Auli'i Cravalho,
Storks Katie Crown, Trolls' Zooey Deschanel, and Zootopia's Jason
Bateman will battle against each other, while Batman: Return of the
Caped Crusaders, Sing, The Little Prince, The Red Turtle, and The
Secret Life of Pets are up for Music in an Animated Feature
Production.
Zootopia also goes against Kubo and the Two Strings, My Life as a
Zucchini, and The Red Turtle in the Writing in an Animated Feature
Production category, while the movie is also nominated with Finding
Dory, Kubo and the Two Strings, Kung Fu Panda 3 for the Character
Animation in an Animated Feature Production category.
In the TV categories, BoJack Horseman's Alison Brie, Open Season:
Scared Silly's Will Townsend, Splash and Bubbles' Leslie
Carrara-Rudolph, Star Wars Rebels's Lars Mikkelsen, and The Mr.
Peabody & Sherman Show's Carlos Alazraqui are up for Voice Acting
in an Animated Television/Broadcast Production.
The 44th Annie Awards winners will be announced during a
prizegiving ceremony in Los Angeles on 4 February (17).
