Zac Efron's delight at New Year's Eve co-star Pfeiffer

Zac Efron jumped at the chance to reteam with his Hairspray co-star Michelle Pfeiffer for New Year's Eve - because he was too "nervous" and "awkward" around the actress on their first film job together.

The 24 year old admits he was a bumbling teenager when he worked with the blonde beauty on the 2007 movie musical, and he was keen to star alongside her again as an adult.

He tells Britain's Metro newspaper, "I was really young when I worked with her on Hairspray and was very nervous around her. Every time I talked to her, I'd put my foot in my mouth. It was always awkward. But I really liked her and hoped I'd have the chance to work with her again.

"Then this film magically came around and I told her: 'If you're in, I'm 100 per cent in. I don't care who else is in the movie.' And she said: 'Let's do it.' I actually got to hang out with her a lot and drive motorcycles through New York City. It was fun."
