Yoga keeps Miley Cyrus sane

Miley Cyrus uses yoga to calm her mind.

The pop superstar showed off her flexibility in a series of time lapse videos of her yoga work out on Thursday morning (17Mar16), when she put her toned abs on display by donning a red sports bra and cropped grey sweatpants.



Alongside her first Instagram clip, she wrote, "starting da day right (sic)".


She went on to prove she was no novice as she did a forearm stand, known as Sirsasana, bent forward in a move called Uttanasana, and did a spinal twist, called Ardha Matsyendrasana.


As she shared her second video, the 23-year-old revealed she uses the popular form of exercise to keep herself sane.


"Gotta do yoga not for my body but for my mind!" she explained. "DO YOGA or GO CRAZY!"


Miley later posted an image of herself relaxing with one of her pet cats post-work out, captioning the image, "Post yoga kitty time."


The singer/actress has a busy few months ahead of her as she prepares to return to her TV roots and start working with director Woody Allen. Miley signed on to his as-yet-untitled period project, for online streaming service Amazon, in January (16), marking her first major TV gig since her hit Disney Channel show Hannah Montana ended in 2011. The cast of the upcoming show will also feature Elaine May, Michael Rapaport, and comedians Lewis Black and Joy Behar, among others.


Meanwhile, Miley will also be appearing on the current 10th season of talent show The Voice, joining the hit series as a key adviser to aspiring artists chosen by returning judges Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Pharrell Williams. Sean 'Diddy' Combs, Gwen Stefani, Tori Kelly and Patti LaBelle are among the others stars set to help out the coaches as they whip their individual teams into shape in the hopes of winning the show.
