Usher's ex-wife setting up water awareness fund after son's jet-ski death
R&B star Usher's ex-wife Tameka Foster is channelling her grief over her son's death into setting up a water safety awareness drive following his fatal jet-ski accident.
Kile Glover, 11, was hospitalised after he was hit by the watercraft while sitting on an inflatable raft on Lake Lanier in Atlanta, Georgia earlier this month (Jul12).
The youngster, Usher's former stepson, was subsequently declared
brain-dead and he died on Saturday (21Jul12).
Foster has returned to her Twitter.com page for the first time
since her son's passing and thanked fans for their support and
well-wishes as she dealt with the tragedy.
She also revealed she is determined to educate people about the
importance of safety in the water, and she has asked for donations
in lieu of funeral flowers to establish a fund she hopes will raise
awareness of the issue.
In a series of posts on the site, she writes, "I appreciate the
hundreds, perhaps thousands of prayers. I'm so grateful to you
guys. Kile was the most fun, creative, sweet, respectful boy.
"Many have asked where to send flowers, but in lieu of flowers we
ask that you make a contribution to the Kile Glover Fund @ Bank of
America. Our goal (sic) to increase water safety - thru (through)
implementing laws, policies & education.
"Kile's passing will not be in vain, we will see to this. Bank of
America Acct # 3340 3823 9828 or via PayPal email
[email protected]... I love you guys."
Kile will be laid to rest in Atlanta on Friday (27Jul12).
