Tom Hiddleston opens up about media scrutiny of his love life
Tom Hiddleston has opened up about the intense media scrutiny of his love life since he began dating Taylor Swift.
The 35-year-old actor's life was quickly put under a microscope when he was first spotted kissing the Shake It Off hitmaker back in June (16), and he reflected on what he's learnt during the crazy summer he's had so far.
"It's interesting, we all live in a world where every phone has a
camera, and there's nothing new really about the spotlight on me. I
think the spotlight, that’s what happens when you're a public
figure," he told The Hollywood Reporter on Friday (12Aug16) during
a Facebook Live interview.
"What have I learned about it? Maybe it's too soon to tell," he
admitted, before promising to give a "proper response."
The Night Manager star didn't mention his 26-year-old girlfriend
directly, but said it is hard to ignore stories about him in the
media that aren't true. "I've learned that there are many sides to
a story, and that sometimes there are a lot of stories out there
which are false, and the hardest thing is to not let the falsehoods
affect your mind," he shared.
Interviewer Scott Feinberg later suggested that the Thor actor's
new presence on Instagram could offer him more control over the
situation, to which Hiddleston promptly agreed.
The Brit actor, who posted his first snap to his new verified
account on Tuesday (9Aug16), is now following his girlfriend on the
social media site, and she's following him back.
While the pair have remained relatively silent in recent weeks
about their budding romance, fans of the couple are awaiting a snap
on the social media site of the couple together, making it
Instagram official.
Last month (Jul16), the Emmy-nominated actor awkwardly confirmed
their relationship after being asked if he and Swift were involved
in a publicity stunt.
"Well, um. How best to put this? That notion is - look, the truth
is that Taylor Swift and I are together and we're very happy," he
told The Hollywood Reporter at the time. "Thanks for asking. That's
the truth. It's not a publicity stunt."
