Tom Hiddleston flirts with 007 role
Actor Tom Hiddleston thinks playing James Bond in a future film "would be an extraordinary opportunity" for him.
The sexy fictional British Secret Service agent is currently being portrayed by Daniel Craig, who has starred in several 007 movies in recent years, including Spectre, Skyfall, Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale.
There are numerous actors being touted as perfect replacements for
Craig when he retires from the Bond role, and Hiddleston is elated
he has made it onto this list of contenders with peers like Idris
Elba, Damian Lewis, Tom Hardy, Colin Firth, Aidan Turner and
Michael Fassbender.
“Time magazine ran a poll and there were like, 100 actors on the
list, including Angelina Jolie,” Hiddleston gushed to The Sunday
Times, referring to the potential future James Bond lineup. “But
yes, it’s nice to be included in the 100. I’m a huge fan of the
series. We all went to see Spectre when we were shooting Skull
Island in Hawaii. I simply love the theme tune, the tropes and the
mythology. I love the whole thing. If it ever came knocking, it
would be an extraordinary opportunity."
Hiddleston believes he'd fare well depicting 007 even though the
action-intensive role is very physically challenging.
"I'm very aware of the physicality of the job," he stressed. "I
would not take it lightly."
Hiddleston portrays a U.K. Special Air Service tracker in
forthcoming action-adventure fantasy Kong: Skull Island and he has
been training with an ex-military man to get fit for the role.
And although he is convinced he can play a kick-butt character
onscreen, partaking in real-life military campaigns is not a good
look for him.
"I'm quite certain I'm not fit enough to be in the SAS, but I've
made strides," Hiddleston smiled.
Kong: Skull Island, which is based on the King Kong monster saga,
began filming in October (15) and the action-adventure fantasy ill
be released in theaters on 10 March 2017.
