Third time was the charm for Gigi Hadid's Victoria's Secret dreams
Model Gigi Hadid landed her dream gig as a Victoria's Secret Angel on her third attempt after twice failing to impress the lingerie firm's bosses in the past.
The runway beauty made her debut at Tuesday's (10Nov15) Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in New York City, where she joined brand regulars including Adriana Lima, Behati Prinsloo and Lily Aldridge on the catwalk.
And now Gigi's mom, former model and reality TV star Yolanda
Foster, reveals the third time was the charm for the 20 year
old.
"She was born an angel," Yolanda gushed to reporters at the event,
before adding, "This didn't just fall into her lap. She missed it
twice. This was her third try and she pulled it off and got a spot
that millions of beautiful, beautiful women deserve as much as she
does. That's part of the game."
Victoria's Secret bosses announced Gigi's late addition to the
fashion show line-up on 29 October (15), when they posted video
footage of the moment she landed the big gig on Twitter.com.
"We love surprises so here's a BIG one for @GiGiHadid at the
#VSFashionShow castings!," read the accompanying caption. "See you
on the runway, Gigi."
"Anyone that grew up w/me (with me) knows that this show has been a
dream of mine 4ever (sic)!" the stunned model posted in response to
the news. "THANK U VS... Brought me to tears."
She also shared the video of herself finding out the news at her
audition, while still wearing lingerie.
Recalling the moment Gigi broke the news to her mom, Yolanda says,
"She called me the minute she walked out (of the audition), from
the car, and it was probably one of the highlights of a mother's
life, obviously."
Gigi dazzled on the Victoria's Secret runway in a turquoise silk
bra with lace detail and matching panties, while she also boasted a
turquoise and black cape with a butterfly wing pattern, which
flowed behind her as she strutted her stuff.
She wasn't the only new angel to join the Victoria's Secret crew -
her pal Kendall Jenner was another new addition to the show, which
will be broadcast in December (15).
