The Rock: 'I wouldn't rule out running for President'

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson "wouldn't rule out" a potential bid for the presidency.

The 44-year-old wrestler-turned-actor has never made a secret of his interest in politics, and cited the recent election, where ex The Apprentice judge Donald Trump was made America's president-elect, as proof that he could set his sights on the White House if he wanted to.

“I wouldn’t rule it out,” Dwayne told Vanity Fair magazine when asked if he would consider running for president in 2020. "It would be a great opportunity to help people, so it’s possible. This past election shows that anything can happen."

His comment comes after he told Britain's GQ magazine back in June (16) that he had been thinking about a career change into the political field.

“I can’t deny that the thought of being governor, the thought of being president, is alluring. And beyond that, it would be an opportunity to make a real impact on people’s lives on a global scale,” he said at the time.

In May, Johnson also retweeted a message from the Independent Journal Review encouraging him to run for the presidency, and added in his reply: "Maybe one day. Surely the White House has a spot for my pick up truck."

Dwayne isn't the only famous face to put his name in the hat for the next election. Hellboy star Ron Perlman posted a video on his Facebook page last week (ends13Nov16), telling fans: "I am hereby using my immense Facebook presence to announce my candidacy for President of United States, 2020."

Chris Rock also said he is considering running for the position, tweeting "I’m gonna run in 2020 wish me luck", while Kanye West previously revealed his intention to make a bid for the White House.
