The Killers star haunted by Tommy Marth's last texts

The Killers rocker Dave Keuning is haunted by a text message he received from the band's former saxophonist Tommy Marth just days before his suicide.

The musician was found dead at his home in Las Vegas in April (12) and was ruled to have suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

The Mr. Brightside hitmakers have now opened up about the tragedy, and Keuning has told of his torment over a missed opportunity to meet up with Marth days before he died.

The guitarist tells Q magazine, "I'll never forget that he texted me a few days before saying, 'Hey, if you're in town let's hang out.' I said, 'No, I'm sorry, I can't. I'm in San Diego.' His response was like, 'No worries, Dave. You're a good guy.' That struck me as odd, that he would say something really nice. But he already knew then what he was doing. I wish I could call him but I can't."

Frontman Brandon Flowers adds, "It's just shocking. He's the last person you would think would do that. What's strange is that he's the one who brought light to the backstage area, brought levity when it was a grind."

Marth, 33, was part of The Killers' touring band and had featured on their albums Sam's Town and Day and Age.
