Taylor Swift's Met Ball dress drama was overblown
Taylor Swift did not need to switch her Oscar De La Renta gown for the Met Gala in New York last week (05May14) after her pet cat attacked the custom satin dress during her fitting hours before she hit the red carpet.
The country star looked flawless on the red carpet, leading some fashion critics to ponder whether she was forced to change outfits after revealing her cat Meredith had had her way with the gown.
Hours before fashion's big night out, she tweeted, "That moment
when your cat casually walks up, then abruptly ATTACKS your custom
satin Oscar de la Renta gown during your fitting for Met Ball."
She hasn't spoken about the near-disaster since, but now she's
telling People magazine Meredith caused a minor panic but didn't do
any major damage.
She explains, "I've never seen more fashionable people lose their
composure quicker than when a cat walks up to a satin, custom Oscar
de la Renta gown and then decides to make a home inside of it.
"She just passed, dug her claws in and started to roll... like when
you see a crocodile attack an antelope on National Geographic
(channel)."
She adds, " She (cat) fancies herself as quite a hunter... (but)
she's a chubby house cat. She's not very strong!"
