Taylor Swift made peace with ex-boyfriend over Red album
Taylor Swift was surprised to receive a sweet phone call from the ex-boyfriend who inspired her Red album after he listened to the record's deeply personal lyrics.
The singer, who is known for writing about her love life in her songs, has revealed her 2012 record was based around one particular romance which ended badly, so she was shocked to hear from the man in question after he heard the tracks.
She tells New York Magazine, "(I) heard from the guy that most of
Red is about. He was like, 'I just listened to the album, and that
was a really bittersweet experience for me. It was like going
through a photo album.' That was nice. Nicer than, like, the
ranting, crazy emails I got from this one dude. It's a lot more
mature way of looking at a love that was wonderful until it was
terrible, and both people got hurt from it - but one of those
people happened to be a songwriter. So what are you going to do?
Did you not Wikipedia me before you called me up (for a date)?"
The Love Story star also admits that not all of her dates make it
into her lyrics as some are not exciting enough to mention. She
adds, "If I go on two dates with a guy and we don't click, I'm not
writing a song about that. It didn't matter in the emotional grand
scheme of things. There's a lot that goes on in daily life that
isn't really worth turning into a verse and a chorus."
Swift has previously been linked to stars including John Mayer,
Harry Styles, Taylor Lautner and Jake Gyllenhaal.
