Taylor Swift and One Direction top charitable celebrities list
Taylor Swift and One Direction have topped a list of the most charitable celebrities in 2013.
The Love Story hitmaker was named the most generous star for the second year in a row by bosses at DoSomething.org, topping the sixth annual Top 20 Celebs Gone Good list.
Her good deeds in the past 12 months include donating $100,000 to
The Nashville Symphony and her impromptu performance of Livin' On A
Prayer with British royal Prince William at a fundraiser for
homeless London youths.
British boyband One Direction came second having volunteered to
work with U.K. charity Comic Relief in Ghana, while Harry Styles
and Liam Payne also raised $800,000 for a cancer research
organisation.
Tragic film star Paul Walker was also included in the list -
following his death in November (13), Universal Studios chiefs
announced a portion of the Fast & Furious 6 DVD sales would be
donated to Walker's Reach Out WorldWide charity.
Other celebrities noted for their charitable efforts in 2013
include Carrie Underwood, for her fundraising for those affected by
the Oklahoma tornado, and Justin Bieber, who raised $1 million for
victims of the Philippine typhoon.
