Taylor Swift & Metallica to headline first Rock in Rio
Taylor Swift, No Doubt and Metallica are among the eclectic acts who will perform at the first Rock In Rio festival next year (15).
The Brazilian festival is branching out in 2015 with a U.S. version of the annual event, which will be held in Las Vegas, and the three acts have confirmed slots alongside Linkin Park and John Legend, among others.
Traditionally held in Rio De Janeiro, Rock In Rio was first staged
in 1985. The Las Vegas festival will take place over two weekends
in May (15) at the MGM Resort.
The first details of the big event were unveiled at an announcement
gig in New York's Times Square on Friday (25Sep14), during which
John Mayer and Brazilian heavy rockers Sepultura performed.
No Doubt, who appeared at a press conference to launch the event,
released a statement, which reads: "We are extremely happy to be
taking the stage of Rock in Rio’s first U.S. festival and to be
part of such an amazing musical history as the festival celebrates
its 30th anniversary."
During the launch gala in New York it was revealed that headliner
Swift's pop rival Katy Perry will perform at next year's (Sep15)
Rock in Rio event in Brazil, alongside acts like Legend.
