Tamara Ecclestone's ex convicted of blackmail
Tamara Ecclestone's former fiance was found guilty of blackmailing the British socialite just hours after she announced her latest engagement.
Derek Rose, 33, stood accused of threatening to sell intimate secrets of the former couple's sex life unless Ecclestone handed over $320,000 .
Rose's co-accused Jakir Uddin, 20, was also on trial over
allegations he emailed Ecclestone's agent in 2011 demanding the
money in exchange for Rose's silence. The pair was arrested last
April (12).
On Monday (25Feb13), a jury at London's Southwark Crown Court
returned a guilty verdict and Rose will be sentenced on Tuesday
(26Feb13).
Uddin faces a re-trial after the jury failed to reach a decision.
He was bailed until a new trial date is set.
Rose's conviction came on the same day the daughter of Formula One
billionaire Bernie Ecclestone confirmed she is set to wed
stockbroker Jay Rutland after just a month of dating.
