Swizz Beatz donates to Russell Simmons' African fund

Swizz Beatz has pledged $50,000 to hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons' African education charity.

Simmons hosted a fundraiser in Hong Kong on Monday (19Sep11) to benefit his Diamond Empowerment Fund (D.E.F.), an organisation he founded in 2007 to encourage executives in the jewellery industry to make a positive difference in the poverty-stricken continent.

Producer Beatz joined his good friend for the benefit and helped to boost funds by handing over a big cheque, which will aid children in South Africa.

In a post on Twitter.com, Simmons writes, "@THEREALSWIZZ just gave 50,000$ to the diamond empowerment fund imagine hip hop in china helping africa kids go to college :-)"
