Suge Knight knocked unconscious during bail hearing
Embattled rap mogul Marion 'Suge' Knight was knocked unconscious in court on Friday (20Mar15) after collapsing and hitting his head as his bail for a murder charge was set at $25 million .
The Death Row Records co-founder has been struggling with his health since he was shot multiple times at a club last summer (14) and recently claimed he was battling blindness due to the sub par medical attention he has been receiving behind bars.
He returned to a Los Angeles court on Friday (20Mar15), when the
judge granted the prosecution's request to set bail at $25 million,
but drama ensued shortly after the ruling when Knight fell and
knocked his head on a chair.
Paramedics were called into the courtroom to tend to Knight, who
had previously been diagnosed with diabetes and a blood clot, and
he was taken to a nearby hospital.
An update on his condition was unavailable as WENN went to press,
but during the hearing, his attorney Matthew Fletcher claimed his
client, who had to be hospitalized during three other hearings in
recent weeks, was being held in solitary confinement without proper
access to his required medication.
Slamming the prison conditions, Fletcher said, "He's being treated
worse than Charles Manson," referring to the convicted killer, who
is serving a life sentence at Corcoran State Prison in California
for his part in the 1969 murder of actress Sharon Tate and
others.
Knight was on bail for a September (14) robbery case when he was
involved in a fatal hit-and-run in Compton, California in January
(15), when he allegedly ran down two men with his pick-up truck as
he attempted to flee an altercation on a film set. His pal, Terry
Carter, died in the incident, while actor Cle 'Bone' Sloan was
hospitalized for his injuries.
Knight has pleaded not guilty to murder, attempted murder and
hit-and-run charges.
