Sofia Vergara thought Joe Manganiello was 'too hot' to date

Sofia Vergara almost didn't date husband Joe Manganiello because she thought he was "too hot".

The 44-year-old actress and Magic Mike hunk Joe, 39, started dating in July 2014, and got married last November (15). But while the pair are happier than ever as they approach their first wedding anniversary, Sofia has revealed things got off to a rocky start with her beau - because she deemed him too good-looking.

After Harry Connick Jr. called Joe "the most attractive man that ever lived" as he interviewed Sofia for his talk show, the Modern Family beauty replied: "When he started trying to convince me to go out with him, I didn't want to go out with him because of that.

"I don't want to deal with that, I am too old now to be with a guy that all the girls are like after him.

"(I told him) 'You're too hot, this is going to be so much work. I'm not kidding'. I didn't want to go out with him because of how hot he was."

However, Joe finally managed to convince Sofia to give him a chance and the rest is history.

Sofia's appearance on Harry airs on Friday (23Sep16), with the pair also discussing the actress' inability to get anywhere on time.

"I wake up super early. I have to be on the set, I have to wake up at 5am," she said. "My routine is to try to get out of the house before I am late because I’m Latin and there is something in our blood that our schedule gets messed up!"

Sofia is mother to 24-year-old son Manolo from a previous relationship. However, after she wed Joe last year, she admitted she and her new husband were considering starting their own family together.

"My husband is younger than me and he wants kids, so we're trying to figure out what we're going to do," she told The Edit. "The idea of doing it all again doesn't scare me but, hey, it's not like it's going to happen naturally, is it?"
