Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa gig abandoned after railing collapse

A Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa gig in New Jersey went horribly wrong on Friday night (05Aug16) when a railing collapsed, reportedly injuring 42 people.

The two rappers were performing at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden as part of their The High Road Tour when the railing collapsed at the venue, causing dozens of fans to fall several feet to the concrete floor.

Snoop and Wiz had walked out to a second stage in the venue, and were asking for fans to "stand up", when a large portion of the railing collapsed, according to NBC10 Philadelphia.

An eyewitness told The Philadelphia Inquirer approximately 50 people fell about three metres onto concrete. The newspaper also reports the railing, that separated the pavilion's lawn from inside seating, collapsed when concertgoers leaned on it.

Snoop and Wiz were escorted off stage by security after the incident, which occurred at around 10.30pm. Fans were allegedly told via an announcement at the venue that the concert would resume, but it was later cancelled and the venue was evacuated.

Fans were helped from the crush, and a Camden County Metro Police spokesman said at the time of the incident that 10 to 15 people were hurt. CNN later reported 42 people had been taken to the nearby hospital for treatment, with Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper also claiming that at least 42 people were injured in the incident.

Snoop has yet to acknowledge the accident on social media, instead posting selfies on Twitter and Instagram. He tweeted before the gig on Friday, "Camden. NJ !! me n @wizkhalifa here for #TheHighRoadTour. whos (sic) comn out tonite ? where the best place to eat here ?? (sic)."

Wiz also has yet to comment on the railing collapse.

The next stop on The High Road Tour is on Saturday (06Aug16) at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts.
