Sick Drake misses Polaris Music Prize ceremony
Rapper Drake was forced to pull out of a performance at the Polaris Music Prize ceremony in his native Canada on Monday night (24Sep12) after he fell sick.
The hip-hop star was in the running for the coveted award for his album Take Care and was due to play at the results gala in Toronto along with his fellow nominees.
However, he pulled out of his appearance just two hours before the
show was due to start because he "wasn't feeling well", according
to Polaris founder Steve Jordan.
Jordan later received a call to say Drake was feeling better and
might put in an appearance, but the star never arrived.
CBC Radio 3 host Grant Lawrence tells Canadian news website
Thestar.com, "We were back there all night juggling the entire
order of the show based on whether or not he would show up."
Jordan adds, "He just didn't end up showing up. So, yeah, he missed
a good show."
Drake lost out on the coveted award to singer Feist, who won the
prize for her record Metals.
