Seth MacFarlane launches Oscars contest
Family Guy creator Seth Mcfarlane has launched a contest to find talented college students to join him onstage at the 2013 Academy Awards.
The star will host the Oscars next year (13) and he is giving youngsters the chance to be a part of the prizegiving.
MacFarlane visited the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)
on Wednesday (28Nov12) to announce the contest, which will require
participants to submit videos detailing how they can contribute to
the future of film.
The winners will then be invited to serve as trophy carriers on the
night of the Academy Awards on 24 February (13).
In a statement, Oscar producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron write,
"In re-imagining what we want our Oscar show to be, we wanted
everyone appearing on that stage to feel a deep commitment to film
and its legacy and, most importantly, its future. That was the
impetus in creating this special honor."
