Selena Gomez in fragrance fuss
Selena Gomez has countersued the bosses of a fragrance firm over a deal gone bad, insisting they owe her millions.
Lawyers representing the owners of Adrenalina Inc. filed suit against the singer/actress last month (Apr13), claiming she left the firm without a spokesmodel after they made a deal with her to create perfume products bearing her name.
They claim the company spent more than $2 million in marketing
alone, and were stunned when Selena Gomez allegedly refused to
honor promotional plans.
Adrenalina officials are suing for damages and they have requested
a court order preventing the star from pulling out of the deal, and
now Selena Gomez has fired back with her own documents.
She claims she backed out of the scent deal because Adrenalina
bosses were going broke, and she felt they couldn't afford to
manufacture and market her perfume line.
According to Selena Gomez's lawsuit, Adrenalina bosses promised to
pay her a five per cent royalty on sales of all Selena-brand
scents, including a guaranteed minimum of $5.2 million - but they
could barely afford to pay their own employees.
The singer is now suing Adrenalina for the $5.2 million they
promised her, according to TMZ.com.
