Selena Gomez: 'I don't handle fame as well as people think'
Singer/actress Selena Gomez is adamant she is a flop at handling the pressure of fame.
The Come and Get It hitmaker has been in the spotlight since she was a kid, but following a split and possible reconciliation with boyfriend Justin Bieber, and a stint in rehab for an unconfirmed issue in January (14), it seemed the attention may have reached a tipping point for Gomez.
In an interview with beauty website Into the Gloss, the 22 year old
candidly talks about her troubles over the past few months, saying,
"It's been such a transitional year for me - I moved out of my
parents' house this year and into my own place. Sometimes, I'll be
honest, I don't handle all of this as well as people think, so it's
been important to really figure out what makes me feel
grounded."
Gomez also admits she is only now realizing the powerful influence
she has on her fans, and hopes she can her fame to inspire and
motivate those who idolize her.
She adds, "When I was younger and running around all the time on
tour, I don't think I took the time to notice how being a woman in
my position is really a gift. I want to make sure I utilize all
that power... All the stuff that I've been living has been
beautiful and awkward and authentic."
