Selena Gomez hijacks fan's concert video call

Selena Gomez stunned a concertgoer in Washington, D.C. over the weekend (04-05Jun16) by hijacking their cell phone to interrupt their video call.

The Come and Get It hitmaker was in the middle of her Revival Tour show at the Verizon Center on Saturday (04Jun16), when she spotted a fan in the front row using FaceTime to show their friends what they were missing.

"Hey, you're on FaceTime!," she noted, before waving to the people on the other end of the call as she called out, "Hi!"

In video footage of the encounter, Selena is subsequently shown reaching out for the phone, which the crowdmember happily hands over. The singer then shows the callers the view of the audience from the stage, before jokingly quizzing the fans about their absence.

"Did you guys not buy a ticket or...," she teased. "It's fine!"

Selena then hands back the device to the thrilled audience member as other attendees cheer in excitement.

The pop star is no stranger to crowd interaction at her shows. Last month (May16), while onstage in Fresno, California, Selena called on a girl holding up a poster reading, "Marry Justin Please", to hand over the piece of paper, which referenced her past relationship with fellow pop superstar Justin Bieber. However, she made her feelings about the call for a romantic reunion clear by screwing up the paper and tossing it aside.

The concert incident emerged days after Selena revealed she would not be performing her ballad The Heart Wants What It Wants on tour as the love song, written about her famous ex-boyfriend, was too much for her to sing live.

"There are things that I can't do," she told Entertainment Weekly in May (16). "I won't be performing this on this tour because I don't want to. It's like when you smell a scent and it takes you back to a place that maybe wasn't the best place. That stuff is a little bit more difficult."

Selena and Justin dated on and off for three years before calling time on their romance for good in 2014.

They have remained friends ever since, and eagle-eyed fans on social media noticed the pair had started following one another on Instagram.com again on Sunday (05Jun16).
