Sarah Hyland fan arrested for groping the actress

A male fan has been arrested for groping actress Sarah Hyland at an event in Australia this week (begs17Feb14).

The Modern Family star was posing with fans at a party at The Sebel Pier One in Sydney on Tuesday (18Feb14), when an unidentified male, who asked her for a picture, grabbed her breast.

Following the incident, the 23 year old abruptly left the venue and took to Twitter.com to apologize for leaving early.

She wrote on Thursday (20Feb14), "Sorry to all the fans outside the qantas event that I didn't get to say hi to but I had to leave due to an inappropriate touch of a fan."

Her boyfriend, Matt Prokop, added, "To the a**hole who assaulted Sarah tonight I hope to God you don't see next week.

"All Sarah wanted to do tonight was say hi to the girls who were waiting outside one douche can ruin it for everyone. Goodnight."

Police officials confirm the man has since been arrested.

A spokesperson tells MailOnline.com, "A man is assisting police with investigations following an alleged indecent assault of a woman yesterday. It is alleged the man indecently assaulted the 23-year-old woman... A 29-year-old man was arrested. Police are continuing their investigations."
