Sam Smith returns to Boston to hear great vocal surgery news

Sam Smith has returned to the city where he had vocal surgery earlier this year (15) to reconnect with the pioneering doctors who saved his career.

The Stay with Me hitmaker was back in Boston, Massachusetts on Tuesday (14Jul15) for a check-up at the Massachusetts General Hospital Voice Center, where he underwent microsurgery in May - and it was all good news.

Taking to Instagram, Smith wrote, "So just want to keep everyone in the loop; I have been in Boston the last few days to have a check up on my throat, before I embark on my American tour. MY THROAT IS LOOKING... FANTASTIC.

"So it's amazing news. So happy. It's going to be a really tough month of shows but I can't wait to see you all, and pray it's going to be a smooth ride. LET'S GO."

Smith also treated his dad Frank to a tour of the city and enjoyed a meal at his new favorite Rockport restaurant My Place by the Sea, where a low-calorie shrimp dish he helped create during his last visit has been added to the menu by chef and co-owner Kathy Milbury.
