Royals thank public as Prince George celebrates first birthday

Prince William and his wife Catherine, Duchess Of Cambridge thanked the public for their well-wishes as they celebrated their son's first birthday on Tuesday (22Jul14).

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed their little boy, Prince George, in London on 22 July, 2013, and they marked his big day by releasing a series of family photographs which show the tot playing at a butterfly house.

They also issued a statement thanking fans for their support. It reads, "We would like to take this opportunity on George's first birthday to thank everyone over the last year, wherever we have met them, both at home and overseas, for their warm and generous good wishes to George and our family."

The family is expected to host a low-key birthday party for Prince George on Tuesday at Kensington Palace in London.
