Rosario Dawson in talks to play Cecilia Reyes in X-Men spin-off

Rosario Dawson is in talks to play another Marvel character in the new X-Men spin-off New Mutants.

The actress, who portrays Claire Temple in the studio's TV hits Daredevil and Luke Cage, is the frontrunner to play Dr. Cecilia Reyes in New Mutants. The character has the ability to generate a protective field around her body.

If the Sin City star signs on, she'll join Anya Taylor-Joy and Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams in the movie, which will be directed by The Fault in Our Stars filmmaker Josh Boone.

Meanwhile, newly-retired X-Men star Hugh Jackman has urged filmmakers to cast the young actress who played his cloned daughter in Logan as the new Wolverine.

The Aussie star tells Collider he'd love to see 11-year-old Dafne Keen take on his iconic clawed character, insisting she'd be the perfect new Wolverine.

"I think one thing we've learned: when X-Men started, it was pretty revolutionary," he says. "Like the comic book itself, I think there was an element of breaking conventions, of opening up in the concentration camp with a character, was not what people expected.

"I think X-Men has always been about asking questions, challenging norms and asking what's going on... I definitely think the spirit of Logan is in a way a reboot of that desire to keep taking risks and to ask more difficult questions, and to go deeper within the characters.

"I think, for me, it would make sense to go younger with Logan. I think it would be very difficult - however, there's a female 11-year-old who could absolutely frickin' nail it, for my money."

Keen played Laura in this year's (17) Logan.

"I think it (character) would be wide open to interpretation," Hugh continues. "I think it could be anything. You could go any color, any race, anything. If you look at all the drawings and all the different interpretations from different artists over the years, I think it's completely open. I think audiences will buy it."
