Rita Ora slams U.K. tabloid writer over The X Factor criticism

Rita Ora has lashed out at a British tabloid reporter after the writer criticized the pop star's new role as a judge on U.K. reality show The X Factor.

It was announced earlier this week (begs15Jun15) that the Black Widow hitmaker will join music mogul Simon Cowell, singer Cheryl Cole and fellow newcomer, DJ Nick Grimshaw, on the judging panel for the upcoming 12th season of the series, but the news failed to impress Mirror reporter Polly Hudson, who expressed her views in an op-ed column titled, "My 10 better choices of X Factor judge than Rita Ora".

In the article, Hudson branded Ora's appointment "completely baffling madness", stating, "She's even less musically revered than Cheryl (which takes some doing), dull, desperate and literally The Voice's sloppy seconds."

Ora left her role as a mentor on rival show The Voice U.K. after just one year to join The X Factor, having previously served as a guest judge on Cowell's show in 2012.

The singer was left outraged by Hudson's harsh words and Ora decided to hit back on Twitter.com on Thursday (18Jun15), writing, "Suck my D**k Polly Hudson I guess the mirror is the only newspaper that prints your s**tty pointless stories."

Referring to new season of The X Factor, she continued, "I know you'll be watching. I'll blow you a kiss..."

Ora then appealed to other members of the media, stating, "Journalists please bring positivity back into the world don't just try & get readers (if U have any) & waste their brain space with rubbish!"

She subsequently removed her initial post namechecking Hudson in a bid to not give her any "promotion".
