Rihanna demands Pokemon gamers put phones down
Rihanna is apparently anti-Pokemon after demanding her fans be in the moment during her concert on Saturday night (23Jul16).
The Diamonds star brought her Anti World Tour to Lille, France, where she encouraged the thousands in the audience to truly enjoy the experience of the live gig as opposed to watching her show through the screens of their mobile devices.
During her concert, she gave a speech about being in the moment,
and called out any users of the popular Pokemon Go app, an
augmented reality game in which users 'catch' the digital
creatures.
In video footage posted on Twitter, Rihanna is seen telling her
fans, "I don't want to see you texting your boyfriends or your
girlfriends. I don't want to see you catching any Pokemons up in
this b**ch."
The R&B star isn't the only celebrity to criticize the app, and
among those who feel the same way is Zachary Quinto, who discussed
the game while promoting Star Trek Beyond, a film which features a
new theme song called Sledgehammer by Rihanna.
Speaking of Pokemon mania, Zachary told Entertainment Tonight: "I
think it's great that people are engaging with one another, but I
feel like the ultimate goal for us is to be able to do that without
these devices in our hands.
"And I realize that technology has evolved and there's a lot of
good that comes from that, and I have no judgment of people that
are into it, but I feel like, how do we facilitate the conversation
about connecting without these devices between us?"
