Prince Glastonbury rumors heat up
Prince looks set to finally take a bow at Britain's iconic Glastonbury Festival this weekend (28-29Jun14) as rumors of a surprise appearance heat up.
The Purple Rain star pulled out of talks to headline the fabled music event in Somerset, England earlier this year (14) after the news leaked online, and he was replaced by British rockers Kasabian in the Sunday night (29Jun14) closing slot.
Festival founder Michael Eavis insisted Prince was no longer in the
running to perform at the event, but multiple reports in the
British press suggest Prince is now gearing up for a surprise
appearance at the festival on Sunday.
The reports state that Prince is planning to perform a small set
away from the main stage, alongside pop star Rita Ora, who he
recently collaborated with.
A source tells The Sun newspaper, "He has loved playing the small
gigs over the past few months and, even though he got offered the
main headline spot, he's now decided to pop up as a surprise...
standard Prince style. Rita is over the moon to be going on stage
with him, understandably."
Young singer Danielle Curiel, who has worked with Prince on a
number of projects, fueled the gossip about a potential Glastonbury
performance with the superstar by hinting about a "huge surprise"
in a post on her Instagram.com page, writing, "We have a HUGE
SURPRISE and can't wait to tell the world what's gonna happen next
with us!"
The message was retweeted on Prince's 3rdEyeGirl Twitter.com
page.
Previous rumors suggested Glastonbury revelers would be treated to
a secret set by British rockers The Libertines.
