Police still investigating Chris Brown as assault arraignment is delayed
Chris Brown's arraignment date has been postponed until next month (Oct16) to allow Los Angeles authorities extra time to complete their investigation.
The Loyal hitmaker was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on 30 August (16), hours after Baylee Curran called police and accused Brown of pulling a gun on her during a party at his Tarzana, California home.
The singer, who has denied the allegations, was due to face the
charges in court on Tuesday (20Sep16).
The date came and went without a hearing, and Brown's attorney,
Mark Geragos, took to Twitter late on Tuesday to respond to fans
asking for an update on the case.
As he addressed the lack of arraignment news, Geragos suggested
police officials were close to dropping the case as it has yet to
be presented to the District Attorney for prosecution, a move he
claimed was "usually not a positive sign" for cops.
And when another devotee stated, "Chris will be fine right?", he
posted, "Correct!"
However, law enforcement sources tell TMZ.com the assault case is
still very much active, and detectives have been given an extra 15
days to finish interviewing witnesses and compiling all of their
evidence.
Geragos previously insisted his client was innocent and blasted
blonde model Curran's claims as "demonstrably false".
He also declared police had found no evidence of the alleged attack
on Brown's home security footage, or of the firearms or jewellery
Curran had described in her report to authorities and in subsequent
media interviews.
Meanwhile, Brown is letting his new clothing designs speak for
themselves after debuting a new T-shirt online. The white top
features the words, "This b**ch lyin'", with a graphic of a crying
blonde woman on the back.
