Perrie Edwards would have preferred to avoid messy break-up

Perrie Edwards has labeled messy break-ups “the worst”.

The Little Mix star experienced her own public split from fiance Zayn Malik in August 2015, with the former One Direction singer quickly moving on to model Gigi Hadid.

While both sides remained tightlipped on the break-up, rumors circulated that Zayn had dumped Perrie by text after four years together. Zayn vehemently denied the story, but Perrie admitted it was true in Little Mix’s recent book Our World.

“I think everyone would prefer it if you could both walk away being friends, being civil. But when it ends messy and bitter… that’s the worse,” Perrie told Britain’s Metro newspaper of breakups in general.

Despite her public heartache, Perrie admits she’s having the time of her life right now with her bandmates Jesy Nelson, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock.

The British foursome even penned track Shout Out to My Ex about the blonde's messy split.

“We’re definitely going to look back at this time of our lives and say these were the glory days. We’re traveling the world and we’re doing it together. It’s the happiest times of our life,” Perrie grinned.

To beat homesickness and jet lag when globetrotting for work, the girl gang keep their spirits high by playing pranks on each other and those around them. Leigh-Anne, who Perrie declares one of the best prankers, got a taste of her own medicine thanks to her friends.

“We did the Stella McCartney thing too,” Jesy started.

“We all got given leggings and a crop top but we convinced Leigh-Anne that she only got sportswear and the rest of us got gowns and handbags and ridiculously expensive shoes,” Jade laughed.

“I was mortified,” added Leigh-Anne.

The Little Mix interview came after Britain's The Sun newspaper reported Perrie is dating England footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

A source told the publication: "It’s very early days between Perrie and Alex. There’s certainly some chemistry there and they’ve enjoyed spending time together."
