Perrie Edwards will never go into detail about her split from Zayn Malik.
The 23-year-old singer was dumped by her fiance in August last year (15), not long after he had sensationally quit One Direction.
But while she has touched upon her heartbreak in Little Mix's new book Our World, during an appearance on Britain's The Jonathan Ross Show, airing this Saturday (12Nov16), Perrie vowed that she will never reveal exactly what happened between her and Zayn.
"For a normal girl to go through something like that it’s hard," Perrie said of the split. "I think when the whole world is looking at it and talking about it, you feel a bit (affected by it). Obviously I didn’t say too much about it, I briefly mentioned it. I wasn’t going to not mention it… You’re in control at the end of the day and I briefly mentioned it, kind of said what happened but I would never get into detail because it is personal."
One thing that Perrie was able to do following her split from Zayn was turn to her bandmates Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall for support. And it's this level of helping each other that the girls value so much.
"When I split up with my ex, I was thinking 'I have got my three best friends, what does it matter?'" Leigh-Anne said. "I'm so lucky to have these girls and that’s how we feel all the time. We’re the best of friends. People don’t believe that we actually get on as well."
Jesy added: "That’s what’s lovely about being in a group, we all literally support each other and when we’re going through bad times we can all relate to it."
The group has been honest and open in their book, discussing everything from their rise to fame to their family lives. The process of writing the tome was somewhat cathartic for the girls, with Jade admitting she found it "like therapy" at times.
"We sat down with someone and we said all our experiences growing up and stuff. And I liked that the popstar life is obviously very glitzy and glamorous but I like that this time we were very honest and said things that we wouldn’t usually talk about and it was nice to show the fans," she said.
