Paris Hilton fires back at Nick Carter's relationship remarks

Paris Hilton has fired back at her ex-boyfriend Nick Carter after the Backstreet Boys star suggested dating the reality TV socialite at the height of his drug abuse issues was a terrible idea.

Carter has opened up about his past substance abuse hell in his memoirs Facing the Music and Living to Talk About It, and he also talks about his regrets about getting involved with The Simple Life star almost a decade ago in 2004.

Earlier this week (beg23Sep13), he told news show Access Hollywood, "It is what it was. I was with someone who wasn’t good for me at the time. I might not have been good for her at the time. We had the partying in common... You go through (life), you have exes and you have past situations. But I don’t fault her for anything."

He also told In Touch magazine, "(She) fed my worst impulses as far as partying."

And now Hilton has responded by releasing a statement, which reads: "I don’t believe I was a negative influence on Nick, we dated for a very short period of time, almost 10 years ago, and when we met he was already a successful pop star; I’m pretty sure that was the only thing influencing him at the time. I’m glad he got help for his problems and wish him all the best."
