Omarion upset about Grammys snub
R&B star Omarion vented about the Grammys snub of his hit Post to Be on Monday (07Dec15), insisting the "odds have always been against me".
The singer teamed up with Chris Brown and Jhene Aiko for the electro-hop R&B tune, and although the song has been making waves on the music charts, it was not among the contenders for Best R&B Performance when the 2016 Grammy Award nominations were announced on Monday morning.
In response, the former B2K singer took to Twitter.com to share his
frustrations, calling Post to Be "one of the greatest R&B
collaborations ever".
"CB (Brown), Jhene, & myself been in the game 10+ (years)," he
wrote. "Even though people act like its easy to make a hit (& it's
not). As an artist you look forward to being acknowledged by the
game. The odds have always been against me. I constantly prove you
wrong. I'll consistently do great things & you will have to
celebrate me."
"This isn't a 'im upset' (post to be) rant," he continued. "This is
a - ok so that wasn't good enough. I'll be back. Have my Grammy's
ready. The game has long changed since I was introduced to it. They
want to still treat me like I'm a new to this. My moment is coming
trust."
He concluded, "So when it's all said & done. Remember. I prophesied
it. It's my destiny. I was destined. Chosen. Congratulations to all
the nominees! Enjoy this milestone."
Omarion, whose album O was nominated for Best Contemporary R&B
album in 2006, will now watch as his peers Miguel, The Weeknd,
Jazmine Sullivan, D'Angelo and The Vanguard and Tyrese battle for
the coveted award at the annual music prizegiving on 15 February
(16).
