Nicole Scherzinger and Andrew Lloyd Webber make up after Cats dispute
Nicole Scherzinger has "kissed and made up" with Andrew Lloyd Webber after he blasted her for pulling out of his Broadway revival of Cats.
The former Pussycat Doll starred as Grizabella in the 2014 London revival of Webber's classic musical and was due to reprise the role when it opened Broadway this year (16) but she dropped out of the production weeks before rehearsals were due to begin to return to U.K. reality show The X Factor.
The theatre composer blasted Nicole in interviews admitting he was
"furious" with her, but Nicole now insists they have buried the
hatchet and are now on good terms.
“I just did a show with Andrew in Austria," she told London's
Evening Standard. "I learned a new song for him. Buenos Aires from
Evita. So we’ve kissed and made up.”
In May (16), he told Economist Radio, "I'm furious because I really
believe she's the most fantastically talented girl and I went out
on a limb to get her for the London Palladium here, and it makes me
look like an absolute twot (sic) with them all."
Nicole, who said at the time she had never signed her Cats
contract, was replaced by singer Leona Lewis, who made her Broadway
debut when the production opened for previews earlier this month
(Jul16).
The singer is currently working on The X Factor and is on the hunt
for a U.K. base in the Notting Hill neighbourhood of the British
capital. She adds, “So far I’ve found a cute little spot in Notting
Hill. The vibe is so cool here. This is my second home. I love
being back... Obviously I have my home in LA but this country’s so
frickin’ good to me.”
The 2016 series marks the 38-year-old's third stint as a judge on
the U.K. show, and she stars alongside Simon Cowell, Sharon
Osbourne and Louis Walsh.
