Nicole Kidman in talks to play Aquaman's mother
Nicole Kidman is in talks to play Aquaman's mom.
The Oscar winner is in early negotiations to play mother to Jason Momoa's comic book hero in the blockbuster adaptation, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
If she signs on she'll be heading home to Australia for the winter
(17), as director James Wan will be shooting Down Under from April
(17).
It won't be her first DC Comics role - Kidman played Dr. Chase
Meridian opposite Val Kilmer in 1995's Batman Forever.
The new film also features Johnny Depp's ex-wife Amber Heard, who
is attached to play Mera, Aquaman's royal love interest, and Willem
Dafoe will portray scientist Nuidis Vulko. Watchmen star Patrick
Wilson has been cast as Orm, the hero's villainous
half-brother.
Meanwhile, Yahya Abdul-Mateen may also be joining the cast as Black
Manta. The Get Down star's name made headlines in recent months
after it was announced that he was one of the final choices to play
Lando Calrissian in the Han Solo Star Wars spin-off. Donald Glover
was ultimately cast in the role.
Abdul-Mateen will soon appear in the Baywatch remake, alongside
Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, and Priyanka Chopra.
Momoa made his debut as Aquaman in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of
Justice and he'll also appear in the new Justice League film,
opposite fellow superheroes Ben Affleck (Batman), Henry Cavill
(Superman), and Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman).
