Nicki Minaj testifies to keep boyfriend out of jail
Nicki Minaj hit the stand in a bid to keep her boyfriend out of jail on Thursday (10Dec15), telling a Pennsylvania judge he's "not perfect" but he's a changed man.
The Anaconda hitmaker's rapper beau Meek Mill was in court in Pennsylvania for a parole violation hearing, and his girlfriend was by his side urging Common Pleas Judge Genece Brinkley to see what she sees in her man.
Mill, real name Robert Rihmeek Williams, is in trouble for
reportedly violating parole in a 2009 drug and gun case by
repeatedly changing his court-approved travel schedule, and
accompanying Minaj to the recent American Music Awards in Los
Angeles without the permission of his probation officer.
Testifying for almost 30 minutes on Thursday, Nicki told Judge
Brinkley, "He's not perfect but I can't believe how much he's
changed," and then told the court she plans to help her boyfriend
get organized and fulfill his community service requirements.
Earlier, Williams' lawyer, Frank DeSimone, urged the judge to
consider the music industry is chaotic, suggesting his client has
to make several last-minute travel arrangements and he was in no
way trying to disrespect the court.
DeSimone also stated Minaj and Williams are serious about getting
married, adding the Superbass hitmaker would not be marrying a
"criminal or bum".
Meek Mill is due back in court on 17 December (15).
