Nick Cannon directing and starring in women's basketball movie

Nick Cannon will direct and star in a new film about women's basketball.

The former America's Got Talent host will also write and produce She Ball, which centers on Avery Watts, who teams up with a women's streetball league to save the Inglewood Community Center he manages while raising a seven-year-old daughter.

Cannon will star alongside singer Chris Brown, Cedric the Entertainer, Evan Ross, Rebecca De Mornay, and Faizon Love.

Production on the movie has begun and Cannon will also work on the soundtrack with Cash Money Records label boss Bryan 'Birdman' Williams, according to Variety.

“I’m very excited for this film," Cannon says. "It’s something powerful for the culture, uplifting for the community, and the film’s main objective is to empower women."
