Natalie Portman film premiere canceled after Paris attacks
The French premiere of Natalie Portman's new film Jane Got A Gun has reportedly been called off following the terrorist attacks in Paris, France.
An email was sent to journalists by organizers at Mars Films announcing a press junket in France to promote the film on Sunday (15Nov15) has been canceled, along with the French premiere on Monday (16Nov15), according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Press events, and Portman's French television appearances to
promote the film, have also been scrapped. The movie, which also
stars Ewan McGregor, is due to be released in France on 25 November
(15).
Portman moved to Paris earlier this year (15) after her husband
Benjamin Millepied took over as Director of Dance at the Paris
Opera Ballet.
The actress previously expressed her anxiety about being Jewish and
living in the city after the Charlie Hebdo attack, in which 11
journalists were killed by terrorists in January (15).
Terrorists targeted several sites in the French capital on Friday
(13Nov15), with armed men shooting innocent bystanders at
restaurants and bars. It was reported that at least two bombs were
detonated outside the Stade de France, during a soccer match
between France and Germany, which French President Francois
Hollande was attending.
Hostages were taken at the Eagles of Death Metal gig at the city's
Bataclan venue, with reports suggesting more than 80 revelers were
killed by terrorists inside the concert hall.
A number of high-profile events in the city have since been called
off, including the premiere of Tom Hanks' new movie Bridge of
Spies, and two U2 concerts.
