Nashville to return for season five
Hayden Panettiere has been given a reason to smile after her cancelled country music drama Nashville was revived for a fifth season on a new network.
The TV series, which stars Hayden and Connie Britton as frequently feuding country singers, was axed by bosses at the ABC network last month (May16).
However, rumours suggesting the show had been being picked up by
officials at another network began swirling shortly after the chop,
while fans also launched a social media campaign in a bid to
convince TV executives to bring Nashville back.
Now their wishes have come true as it will return to the small
screen on Country Music Television (CMT) and streaming service
Hulu.
All of the characters are expected to return to the show for the 22
new episodes.
The good news emerges during a tough time for Hayden, who recently
announced she was heading back to rehab to seek further help in her
battle with postpartum depression.
"Rather than stay stuck due to unhealthy coping mechanisms I have
chosen to take time to reflect holistically on my health and life.
Wish me luck!" the actress and singer said in a statement last
month (May16).
Following her announcement, Hayden's co-star Derek Hough reportedly
began sending her letters to show his support while she receives
help in a Utah facility.
"He thinks she's a really great person," a source told OK!
magazine. "They bonded while filming, and he wants to let her know
that he cares. He's got a soft spot for her, and he doesn't like
seeing her go through this."
"She needs all the encouragement she can get, and it brightens up
her day to hear from Derek," the source added. "She couldn't be
more grateful for his friendship."
The Heroes actress, whose character on the show also battled
postpartum depression, welcomed her first child with fiance
Wladimir Klitschko in 2014. Hayden first admitted herself to rehab
in October (15), but last month (May16), it became clear she was
still struggling with the condition.
