Model Chloe Goins suing Bill Cosby over alleged attack
The model who sparked a criminal investigation into sex assault allegations against Bill Cosby has filed a civil suit.
Chloe Goins, 24, claims Cosby drugged and assaulted her at the Playboy mansion in 2008, when she was a teenager.
The Los Angeles District Attorney is currently looking into the
accusations, which surfaced in January (15), four months after the
first of a group of alleged victims came forward with decades-old
allegations of rape, drugging and inappropriate behavior aimed at
Cosby. More than 50 women have since come forward.
The comic's attorney, Martin Singer, has refuted the model's
allegations, insisting he has proof to show that Cosby was in New
York on the date that Goins claimed she was assaulted at the
Playboy Mansion in California.
However, Goins is refusing to back down and she is now taking civil
action against the funnyman.
In legal papers obtained by TMZ.com, Goins' lawyer outlines the
growing list of accusations piling up against Cosby, and adds, "The
nature of these activities establishes a history of a serial rapist
that has been conducting these horrendous activities against women
for over the last 40 years."
Goins is demanding more than $75,000 in damages for counts
including mental anguish, loss of self-esteem and dignity.
The news of the lawsuit emerges as Cosby prepares to be deposed on
9 October (15) in relation to claims he acted inappropriately with
Judy Huth during a party at the Playboy Mansion in California in
1974, when she was just 15.
It will be the first time he has spoken about a sexual assault
allegation against him in a decade. He settled a previous case out
of court in 2005 and has never been charged with any crime relating
to the accusations.
Meanwhile, 27 of the women accusing Cosby of sexual assault have
agreed to give on-camera interviews as part of an upcoming TV news
special in America.
NBC News anchor Kate Snow will moderate the hour-long Dateline
episode, which will air on Friday (09Oct15). It will feature model
Beverly Johnson - the most high-profile of the 50-plus accusers,
who have come forward with rape, drugging and disturbing sex tales
about the comedian in the past year.
During the news special, the women will have the opportunity to
respond to continued denials from Cosby's lawyers.
Gloria Allred, who is representing many of the accusers, will also
take part in the program. She has staged multiple press conferences
with women who have accused Cosby of bad behavior.
