Mission: Impossible keeps Fantastic Four off the top of box office
Tom Cruise's latest Mission: Impossible blockbuster has scored a second Sunday at number one on the nation's box office countdown, keeping the latest Fantastic Four movie off the top.
The critically-panned Marvel film debuts in second place behind Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, with ticket sales of $3 million less than the spy movie, which earned $29.4 million in its second weekend on release.
The fifth Mission: Impossible movie has now cracked $100 million in
10 days.
Australian actor Joel Edgerton's R-rated thriller The Gift, opens
in third place with a distant $12 million, while road trip comedy
Vacation and Ant-Man round out the new top five.
Meryl Streep's new movie Ricki & the Flash debuts at seven with a
disappointing $7 million opening weekend take.
