Miss Colombia battling nasty cold after winning Miss Universe

New Miss Universe Paulina Vega is struggling with a nasty cold after spending time in New York City for promotional duties during a blizzard.

Miss Colombia had to hop on a plane to the Big Apple to celebrate her new title with a round of TV and press interviews on Monday (26Jan15) hours after she was crowned the winner of property mogul Donald Trump's Miss Universe beauty pageant in Miami, Florida on Sunday (25Jan15), and Vega admits the below-freezing temperatures currently sweeping across the American Northeast gave her body a real shock - and left her battling a bad cold.

During an appearance on morning show Live with Kelly and Michael on Thursday (29Jan15), the 22 year old said, "I'm suffering! It's so difficult. I've never been in this kind of weather. In Colombia, we don't have snow so it's, like, my first time.

"I have a big cold, you can't imagine."

But she revealed Trump has been doing his best to help her stay warm, by stocking her wardrobe with thick winter coats.

She added, "He bought me a coat... a hooded (parker) and it says, 'Trump Towers', of course. He bought me a black one, a blue one, a red one, and, I think, a yellow one."
