Miley Cyrus and Daft Punk songs to compete for U.K. award
Miley Cyrus' chart-topper Wrecking Ball is set to go head-to-head with Daft Punk's mega-hit single Get Lucky for a top U.K. songwriting trophy.
The tracks will compete for the coveted Song of the Year prize at the upcoming BMI London Awards, which celebrate the European songwriters behind Billboard's chart hits.
Cyrus' track, which was co-written by Brit Sacha Skarbek, is
nominated along with Daft Punk's Get Lucky and Avicii's Wake Me Up.
Ed Sheeran has won a nod for the track he wrote with Taylor Swift,
Everything Has Changed, while Ellie Goulding's Calvin Harris
collaboration I Need Your Love is also in the running.
Previous winners include Adele, who triumphed in 2012 with her
massive hit Rolling in the Deep. The ceremony takes place in London
on 13 October (14).
