Max George: 'My drinking problem ended relationship with Michelle Keegan'

The Wanted's Max George has confessed his drinking problem was to blame for his split with Michelle Keegan.

The British pop star proposed to actress Keegan in 2011, but the couple ended the engagement the following year (12).

George has remained silent on the cause of the split ever since and Keegan is now engaged to marry U.K. reality TV star Mark Wright while George is dating model Nina Agdal.

But the singer has now told Britain's The Sun newspaper that his problems with drink played a big role in the breakdown of the couple's relationship.

He says, "I had a real problem with drinking too much and that was, without doubt, the downfall of our relationship. It made me a different person, even if I didn't think it at the time. I can't even remember some of the two years I was with her because I was getting drunk every night... I was drinking more to forget that fact that I was with someone who wasn't making me that happy."
