Marie Osmond fights back tears discussing late son's upcoming birthday
Veteran entertainer Marie Osmond fought back tears on TV on Friday (02May14) as she discussed her heartache over what would have been her late son's 23rd birthday this weekend (03-04May14).
The Paper Roses hitmaker was left devastated in February, 2010, when her adopted son, 18-year-old Michael Bryan Blosil, jumped to his death from the balcony of his Los Angeles apartment following a long battle with depression.
His birthday falls on Sunday (04May14) and Osmond admits the loss
still pains her deeply.
During a guest co-hosting stint on The Talk, she said, "I think one
of the hardest things that I have ever been through was the loss of
my son and... this Sunday he would be 23..."
She also opened up about his childhood nickname "Mallard", which
she admits was sadly fitting as he always worked so hard to appear
happy, when inside, he was deeply troubled.
She explains, "It's interesting because ever since he was a little
boy we called him 'Mallard' and I thought, you know, how
interesting because Mallards fly beautifully on water but
underneath their feet peddle like crazy, and I wrote about that in
my book (memoir) and I've had so many people tweet me and (contact
me) on my Facebook who say, 'I'm a Mallard' and my heart just goes
out to them."
