Mariah Carey laughs off lyric mistake during outdoor TV gig
Pop superstar Mariah Carey poked fun at herself during a live TV concert on Friday (16May14) after flubbing the lyrics to her hit song Always Be My Baby.
The Hero hitmaker brought New York's Rockefeller Plaza to a standstill as she kicked off the 2014 Summer Concert Series on breakfast show Today and she delighted fans at the outdoor gig by performing her 2008 tune Touch My Body and debuting her new single You Don't Know What To Do with rapper Wale.
She wrapped up the short show by belting out her 1995 pop classic
Always Be My Baby, but she couldn't help but laugh as she messed up
the words to the first verse by singing "my love" instead of "our
love", and then made another minor mistake in the chorus by saying,
"ooh darlings" instead of "ooh darling".
She brushed off the mistake by ad-libbing during the track, telling
the audience, "See I said, 'Ooh darlings' it was that bad!", and
quipping about the mishap in tune by singing, "Messing up the words
to my own song, and I don't care!"
